Viaducts #1 & #3

The Vranduk – Ponirak section is one of the most challenging routes on Corridor Vc in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to the steep mountainous terrain and strict demands for a 100-year structural lifespan, the engineering team at INFRA d.o.o. Sarajevo successfully optimized the original main design, delivering innovative and cost-effective structural solutions tailored to the contractor's available equipment.

Viaducts 1 & 3: Overcoming Steep Slopes

Designed as prestressed concrete continuous structures with a twin-beam cross-section, Viaduct 1 (269m) and Viaduct 3 feature complex geometry adapted to highly steep terrain.

  • Construction Method: Built span-by-span using cast-in-situ concrete on fixed scaffolding.
  • Substructure & Foundations: Supported by H-shaped piers up to 20m high. Due to high static and dynamic loads, the monolithically connected piers are founded on bored piles (1500mm, up to 25m long).
  • Slope Stability: The design integrates advanced preventive measures, including pre-engineered slots for geotechnical anchors within the foundations to prevent lateral soil pressure and horizontal displacement.
